Board Vice-President

Makerspace YK is looking for a new Board Vice-President!

If you are looking to build up your skills for a leadership position, are good at coordinating and have a passion for creativity and making skill-building accessible, this would be a great role for you! This year the organization will be transitioning to working board to get more hands-on in helping the makerspace thrive!

The Role
In addition to fulfilling their responsibilities as a board member, the Vice President supports the President in providing leadership for Makerspace, assumes and/or shares the President’s duties when necessary.

Expected Time Commitment
6-12 hours/month

Responsibilities of the President

• Support Board Effectiveness in Governance and Oversight
  Work with the president to Ensures that the Board carries out its responsibilities as defined in the Constitution, Bylaws, Governance Policies and other policies; Ensures that the Board attends to its internal governance functions, including those related to the orientation of Board candidates and to the Board’s evaluation of its own performance.
• President Support and Sounding Board
  Support the President with their responsibilities by taking on tasks as needed depending on the President’s capacity, ensuring the president’s accountability to their responsibilities.
• Legal and Ethical Authority, Signing Authority
  Except as noted elsewhere in the Governance Policies, to bind Makerspace only with the consent of the Board of Directors. Shall not commit Makerspace to a course of action that does not have the approval of the Board. Serves as one of the Society’s Signing Officers.
• Board Meeting Duties – Minutes and Backup Chair
  Takes accurate and detailed minutes during board meetings that are saved in the Makerspace YK Google drive. Chairs board meetings in the absence of the president.
• Submit Annual Society FIlings
  Submits Annual Society Filings to the GNWT corporate registries in person.
• Serves on Executive and HR Committees
  Serves on the Executive Committee and HR Committee which meet a minimum of 1 time per year, with more meetings as needed.
• Executive Director/Co-Director Oversight
  Assist with delivering the Executive/Co Director’s performance review with the assistance of the Vice President and/or Treasurer.
